TALKSPACE LANDS $50M, LINKS UP WITH OPTUM

New York-based telebehavioral health startup Talkspace nabbed $50 million in a Series D funding round and announced that it tied up with Optum — UnitedHealth’s health IT and tech arm — signaling payer appetite for digital behavioral health solutions is growing. Talkspace — which provides a platform for users to receive virtual therapy — already boasts partnerships with payers like Aetna and covers over 5 million people. Its new alliance with Optum will open Talkspace up to 2 million new customers, per Bloomberg.
